Person with Kalashnikov intercepted in Marolles in Brussels

crime

The Brussels police intercepted someone with a Kalashnikov during a check in the Marolles. This was reported by VRT NWS and confirmed to our editorial team. It is not clear whether there is a link with the shootings in recent days.

According to the VRT, an anonymous check took place yesterday/Wednesday in Kuipersstraat in the Brussels Marolles, at Vossenplein. During that check, the police were able to intercept someone with a Kalashnikov.

It has been restless for some time after several shootings took place in the Belgian capital in recent days. Shots were also fired in Sint-Gillis on Wednesday morning, causing one person to die. A shooting took place in the Marolles on Sunday evening, leaving two seriously injured.

On Tuesday evening, more than a hundred residents gathered at a neighborhood meeting to express their concerns to Mayor Jean Spinette (PS) and the local police.
