Managing director Harald Kippenes confirms this to VG.

– It is a very controlled and harmless situation, he says.

Kollensvevet is a zipline that runs from the top of Holmenkollbakken in Oslo.

– What happened?

– The hoists you use when driving down the Kollensvevet have a magnetic braking system inside. I don’t have a complete overview yet, but there is something there that has caused the person on the way down to stop earlier than planned.

At 11:58, VG’s reporter on the scene reports that the person is down on the ground again.

Got help

Ida Korneliussen Nordsveen (39) is at Holmenkollen on Friday to ride the zipline.

– I stood in the queue with a friend and her boyfriend. Then I saw that two pieces were going to float down. He on the left suddenly stopped in the middle of the hover, says Nordsveen.

The person has been hanging in the air for around 30 minutes when VG talks to Nordsveen at 11:30.

According to Nordsveen, the person was barely hanging over the edge of the jump, but is unable to determine exactly, as she is some distance away.

Nordsveen says that she has spoken to employees, who are said to have told her that they have equipment to climb down the line, but that no one who is there now has the skills to do so.

– The person is certainly doing well, says Korneliussen.

After a while, a zipline expert came to the scene, who crawled down to the person, and got him down.

According to Kollensvevet’s website, the height difference between top and bottom is 107.5 metres. The line is 361 meters long.

Not the first time

It is not the first time the attraction at Holmenkollen has experienced problems.

I 2013 broke a brake cable when a person put out the float in the line. As a result, the woman had less braking power than usual, and at the bottom of the hill there was an abrupt stop.

After the accident, the attraction was closed while investigations were carried out.

I 2018 there was another incident where a person got stuck in the line for 25 minutes, before he was finally brought down to the ground by the instructors.
