At the end of the afternoon, a person was seriously injured after a shooting incident on the cycle path near Maria in Campislaan in Assen. Shortly afterwards, the police arrested five suspects in the area on suspicion of involvement.
The incident took place around 5:45 p.m. near the Larch Park, after which several emergency services rushed to that location. Eyewitnesses saw the victim lying on the ground for several minutes, after which ambulance personnel took care of the victim. Not long after, the person was taken to hospital.
The police then searched the area in bulletproof vests and arrested the five. “Investigation must reveal whether the shooter is also among them,” said a police spokesperson.
Images of the incident are now circulating on X. You can see how seven young people run away from the place where the incident took place, while two more young people follow behind. It is not known whether the young people belong to one group, nor what their involvement was in the shooting incident.
