Massive Fire in Madla Leaves Home Destroyed and Nearly 50 Evacuated
A devastating fire broke out in Madla, Stavanger, in the early hours of Sunday morning, leaving a home completely destroyed and nearly 50 residents evacuated. The emergency services were notified of the fire at 3:50 AM, and the blaze quickly escalated, spreading to neighboring structures and posing a significant threat to the surrounding area.
Four of the five individuals registered at the affected address were quickly accounted for, but the fifth person was rescued by smoke divers and rushed to the hospital by ambulance. The condition of the individual remains unknown.
The fire, described as “violent,” rapidly spread to the home’s neighboring garage and an adjacent house. Police reported that three other houses suffered burns, while two garages and two vehicles were also damaged. “There is a great risk of spreading to nearby houses,” said guard Annette Barka of the fire department in an interview with NRK.
By 8:30 AM, the police confirmed that the fire department would continue extinguishing efforts throughout the day. ”Most evacuees are now allowed to return to their homes. Some of the neighbors must still wait before they can go home,” wrote operations manager John Laurits Ask in the southwest police district’s log.
The evacuation process was supported by the Stavanger emergency center Madla and KNM Harald Haarfagre (Madlaleiren). ”In the work on evacuation and safeguarding the evacuees, the police have received good help and assistance from the Stavanger emergency center Madla and KNM Harald Haarfagre. They deserve boast,” wrote assignment manager Vigleik Fossåskaret in the police log.
The home on Madla was left completely damaged, as captured in a photo by Kristian Jacobsen of Stavanger Aftenblad. The image shows the extent of the destruction, with the structure reduced to rubble.
