A person has been flown to hospital after a work accident in Åmli municipality in former Aust-Agder. Another person was treated by paramedics at the scene.
The accident happened at the timber factory Bergene Holm, department Nidarå, operations manager Tom Einar Gausdal in the Agder police district confirms to NTB.
The report about the accident came via AMK at 20.38 on Thursday evening. According to the police on the scene, it appears to be a serious accident.
– The next of kin have been notified of what has happened. We are sending crime scene technicians to the scene, Agder police district says on Twitter.
One of the two involved was quickly flown by air ambulance to the hospital in Arendal. The extent of the damage is still unknown.
– The accident is said to have occurred when the tire of a larger construction machine is said to have exploded, the police tweeted.
The operations manager tells NTB that this happened in connection with a tire change.
According to Bergene Holms, the timber company operates website including a sawmill, planer and pickling and impregnation plant. In addition, the department has pressing facilities and facilities for packing bark.
