The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic not only brought infections and deaths because of the virus. At that time, more than two and a half years ago, thousands of people around the world began to experience alterations that had not never before and that were not explained on the basis of any other disease known to date. Increasingly handicapped and limited in their day to day, they soon began to demand answers that have not yet arrived.
The World Health Organization (WHO) did not give an ‘official’ name to what affected so many people until last October 2021. It identified persistent Covid or ‘long’ Covid as the condition of those individuals with a probable history or confirmed SARS-CoV-2, usually three months after the onset of symptoms related to Covid-19 and that cannot be explained by an alternative diagnosis.
