Persis Solo’s Decision to Keep Ramadhan Sananta: Supporting the National Team Amidst Competition

Indonesian U-23 and Persis Solo national team footballer, Ramadhan Sananta.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOLO — Persis Solo boss Kevin Nugroho explained the reasons why his club did not let him go Ramadhan Sananta to strengthen the Indonesian U-24 national team (national team) for the Asian Games in China. Kevin said that Persis always supports the national team, although this time he couldn’t let go of Sananta.

“Persis will always support the national team. We never fail to send players to the national team, let alone FIFA Matchday,” said Kevin when met at Puro Mangkunegaran, Sunday (17/9/2023).

The Persis boss explained that because of the conditions, the proud team of Solo City needed Sananta’s role in the team more. This is because three Persis strikers are absent.

Irfanjauhari had to be sidelined because he suffered an ACL injury after strengthening the Indonesian national team in the AFF U-23 event. Arkhan Kaka has to undergo a U-17 national team training camp in Germany in preparation for the U-17 World Cup and Fernando Rodriguez has to go to Spain for family needs.

“So we don’t have a striker anymore so we won’t send Sananta. Considering the current situation in the standings, it’s not really good,” said Kevin.

Kevin also said that the competition in League 1 this season is now more intense than before. “Today’s league is more exciting than yesterday’s league,” he said.

Persis also admitted that he had communicated with PSSI regarding this matter. “We’ve already written, I’ve chatted too, what do you want to do,” he said.
