Persija Jakarta’s Foreign Players Departing from League 1 2022: Details and Plans for the New Season

Jakarta

A total of three foreign players Persija Jakarta in League 1 2022 it is certain to leave. Now only Ondrej Kudela is left who still survives with the Kemayoran Tigers.

Michael Krmencik, Abdulla Yusuf Helal, and Hanno Behrens are no longer part of Persija. Krmencik was released because he did not live up to expectations, while Yusuf Helal and Behrens often experienced health issues.

The three players actually still have the remaining two seasons on their contracts. But both parties have agreed not to continue their cooperation.

“The club decided that they have plans with different foreign players. I think this is something that is right in a club, they have the desire and the players also agree,” said the coach Persian Thomas Doll to reporters.

“Most importantly, all communication is open. This is very important. Now we are concentrating on the new season,” he added.

So far, Persija has only landed one new foreign player from Japan. He is Ryo Matsumura who strengthened Persis Solo in League 1 2022.

There are still 3 slots + 1 ASEAN player that Persija can take advantage of. As previously reported, 2023/2024 League 1 clubs can sign 6 foreign players with a composition of 5 free + 1 ASEAN.

“There are several positions we still need, such as attacker, midfielder and winger. We want players with good quality for Persian because we want to develop even better,” said Thomas Doll.

“Every other team faces Persija, they always perform above 100 percent. So it’s not just about quantity, but also about quality,” he said.
