Persija Jakarta Denies Marko Simic’s Allegation About Salary Arrears

“It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that I have unilaterally terminated my contract with Persija Jakarta because the club has violated the contract after not paying my salary for one year,” wrote Marko Simic in a post on his personal Instagram account.

“After 4.5 years of service, 98 goals, 4 trophies, unforgettable moments, individual awards and records that I have broken, this is the most difficult decision of my life,” said Simic.

“I need to do what’s best for myself and what I deserve. I’ve been in a tough and difficult situation this year. Some people have put my career at risk and this I will never accept,” said the 34-year-old.

However, the president of the Persija Jakarta Club, Mohamad Prapanca, denied Marko Simic’s accusations.

Prapanca emphasized that Persija is a law-abiding club and at the same time considers Marko Simic’s accusations to be untrue.

“Persija is a law-abiding and law-abiding club. It is not true that there are statements that say that players’ salaries are not paid for one year.

The salary adjustment applied refers to the decision from PSSI regarding the termination of the competition due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The basis is the PSSI Decree (SK) numbered SKEP/69/XI/2020.

In that situation, all players including Marko Simic agreed to the policy as outlined in the first addendum so that everything went as it should. But on his journey, Marko Simic has a different understanding for the next addendum.

On the other hand, Marko Simic still received the adjusted salary amount without any complaints. In the process, Persija Jakarta continues to strive for a common understanding regarding the next addendum.
