KOMPAS.com – Persija Jakarta on Wednesday (19/1/2022) decided to end the collaboration with the coach Angelo Alessio.

Management and Angelo agreed to end the collaboration towards the 21st week.

Angelo was fired because the team’s performance did not improve despite the arrival of new players.

After collecting 25 points in the first round from six wins, seven draws and four defeats, Persija only added four points from the first three matches of the second round.

It started with a 2-1 win over PSIS (6/1/2022), then lost 1-2 to Persipura (11/1/2022), and drew 1-1 with Persela (15/1/2022).

Persija Club President, Mohamad Prapanca, thanked Angelo. He dared to fight together by giving Persija academy players the opportunity to take part in League 1 this season.

As a result, the young players are getting more mature and some are ready to become mainstays.

“This decision was taken purely for professional reasons. Persija needs change, and this is one part that must be passed to change Persija to a better direction,” said Prapanca.

“Apart from the unsatisfactory results, we also want to thank Angelo Alessio for daring to give Persija’s young players the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of Liga 1. This will be Persija’s foundation in building a team in the future. We also wish Angelo to success in his future career.” explained Prapanca.

Currently, Persija is ranked 8th by collecting 29 points.
