The appearance of David da Silva on the front lines of Persib has drawn the spotlight because the egg has not yet been broken. Several chances of scoring goals could not be completed perfectly when Persib faced Borneo FC. The Brazilian striker was brought in during the mid-season transfer window to boost the team’s productivity.
One of the moments that he could actually take advantage of was in the first half. David was free without control when Marcho Sandy made a wrong pass. But instead of releasing a kick, he threw the ball at Marc Klok and the opportunity was wasted.
Robert Rene Alberts also spoke about the incident. According to him, this is not just David da Silva losing confidence as a forward. But it could be because he was not selfish and decided to give the ball to Klok who felt he had a better position.
“David had a few chances including in the first half, it was a big chance but maybe he felt Marc was in a better position to shoot, so he passed it to Marc. I don’t know for sure how Marc communicates behind him,” Robert said at a press conference after the match, Tuesday (18/1).
The coach also commented on another incident involving the 32-year-old. He received a pass from Bruno Cantanhede in his own area of play after getting off the opposing defender. However, the referee considered it an offside position and Robert considered the match officials to have made the wrong decision.
“David is also now in the process of finding the best form and he’s starting a lot of attacks. I was disappointed and confused when there was a referee’s decision to call David offside. David with experience was waiting in his own area of play when Bruno crossed and then he just ran. “Unfortunately it was considered offside and we’ve seen the replay, so I feel sorry for David because the opportunity stopped and it made things difficult for the players.”
