On February 18 this year, NASA announced that the Mars rover “Perseverance” launched six months ago had successfully landed on Mars after traveling nearly 480 million kilometers in space. NASA also released the first batch of color photos of Perseverance landing and the sound recorded on Mars the next day (19).
After Perseverance landed on Mars, it took 142 photos with a rotating lens and sent them back to Earth. NASA released a spliced 360-degree high-definition panorama of Mars earlier. This feature can help scientists carefully observe the surrounding environment , Help to identify rock samples worth collecting, understand the geological history of impact craters, and identify specific rock types. The 360-degree panoramic view of Mars was taken at the Jezero Crater (Jezero Crater) in the northern hemisphere of Mars. It was formed about 3.6 billion years ago. Scientists estimate that lakes are very likely to exist at the beginning of the impact. Therefore, Perseverance will choose Landing there, and in the next two years will explore the life remains of ancient creatures in the nearby area.
Earlier, NASA announced a recording file of Martian sound that has been filtered out of the noise of Perseverance, and the recording is about 18 seconds.
Now that you’ve seen Mars, hear it. Grab some headphones and listen to the first sounds captured by one of my microphones. ????https://t.co/JswvAWC2IP#CountdownToMars
