Early this Sunday, the sky lit up with a meteor shower – or “star shower”, as it is popularly called. The Perseids or “tears of St. Lawrence” (as they are also known) left their marks on the night sky of several countries.
Experts pointed out that the best time to observe this meteor shower would be between 2 am and 3 am on the night of August 12th to 13th. This hour marked the moment when the constellation of Perseus and the imaginary umbrella’s rod were pointing to a place in the sky just above the horizon. This combination made it easier to see the luminous traces of the meteors.
If you didn’t manage to observe the “rain of stars” tonight, don’t lose hope: although “the peak” was in the early hours of this Sunday, the phenomenon lasts until the 17th of August.
