SuaraPemerintak.ID – The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) stated that the Perseid meteor shower will color the sky in the early hours of August 13, 2023.
BRIN Astronomy and Astrophysics Senior Researcher Thomas Djamaluddin said the Perseid meteor shower is an annual occurrence when the earth encounters dust from comet Swift-Tuttle.

“That happened from mid-July to the end of August. The highest concentration of dust traversed the earth around August 12. This year it happened on August 13,” he said when contacted in Jakarta, Friday.
Djamaluddin revealed that the Perseid meteor shower was classified as a fairly strong meteor shower with an average of one to two meteors per minute.

This space phenomenon can be witnessed throughout Indonesia in the early hours of August 13 (Saturday evening, Sunday) from 01.30 to 05.00 local time.
According to him, the conditions for witnessing the Perseid meteor shower are clear weather, the observation location is not disturbed by light pollution, and the plains in the north-east direction are also not obstructed by buildings or trees.
The Perseids are one of the brightest meteor showers of the year, which everyone can witness. The meteor shower originates from comet Swift-Tuttle, a ball of ice and boulders that shed dusty debris as it orbits around the sun.
