Surabaya – The match in the 20th week of Liga 1 2023/2024 between Persebaya Surabaya and PSIS Semarang has the opportunity to be held at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT). This was stated directly by the Head of the Operations Bureau (Karo Ops) of the East Java Regional Police, Kombes Puji Santoso.
The Persebaya vs PSIS duel will be held on Sunday (26/11) afternoon. The meeting between the two clubs will actually be held at the Gelora Joko Samudro (GJOS) Stadium, Gresik. However, due to the chaos that occurred at the stadium, Persebaya management then proposed the GBT Stadium as the venue.
“That (venue) is actually not our domain. But information from several colleagues is that the plan will be held at GBT if permitted,” said Puji, Wednesday (22/11/2023).
Regarding this information, continued Puji, his party will hold a coordination meeting with the executive committee and security team. He ensured that security would be tightened in the Persebaya vs PSIS match so that there would be no chaos like in Gresik.
“Regarding the Persebaya match with PSIS, a coordination meeting will be held regarding security concepts and patterns,” he explained.
“Of course we will not underestimate security. We will increase it (security) so that there are no incidents where spectators are disappointed and then take it out on members of the National Police,” he added.
As is known, the GBT Stadium has technically completed its obligations as host of the U-17 World Cup. GBT Stadium itself played its last match on Tuesday (21/11), namely Mali against Mexico, and Morocco against Iran.
