Persebaya Surabaya Focuses on Improving Performance in Liga 1 Second Round

JawaPos.com – Persebaya Surabaya is starting to focus on improving their performance in the second round of Liga 1 this season. Uston Nawawi, who was appointed to lead the Green Force again, promised to end this negative trend.

Uston Nawawi started his new duties as Persebaya captain last Monday (30/10). Only winning four points in the last six matches is a negative trend that Uston and the entire Persebaya coaching team, players and management must end. Uston is now focused on reviving his mentality and restoring team solidity.

Uston also benefited from the postponement of the match schedule against Persis Solo. The match was actually going to be held on Thursday (2/11), but was postponed to 13 December 2023 because it was not possible to use the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium and the Gelora Joko Samudro Stadium.

Persebaya is now scheduled to face the next match, namely the away match against Barito Putera on November 9.

“All players must have a sense of togetherness again, willing to cover for each other’s mistakes on the field,” said Uston. “I emphasize that all players must have a high fighting spirit, because we are playing in a big team like Persebaya. “So expectations are quite high, all players are aware of that,” he continued.

This is the second time Persebaya has been led by Uston. Previously, he was the caretaker head coach after the death of Aji Santoso. At that time, Persebaya was unbeaten in five matches. Won four times, drew once.

Heading into the match against Barito Putera, Uston said his squad was more complete than against Persik Kediri. Dusan Stevanovic is free from accumulated sanctions. Sho Yamamoto is also in the best condition after previously experiencing problems with his ankle due to a collision in the match against Bali United. Likewise, center back Kadek Raditya is experiencing stomach muscle problems.

“The progress of Sho and Kadek’s condition is quite good. “It’s possible that when they play against Barito they will be 100 percent,” said Uston.

Uston is optimistic that Persebaya can win when they play the away match at Barito Putera’s home ground later.
