Solo (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Diabetes Association (Persadia) Surakarta City Branch, Central Java Province, invites the public to be aware of the threat of diabetes.
On the sidelines of the commemoration of World Diabetes Day in De Tjolomadoe, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java Province, Sunday, Chair of Persadia Surakarta Branch Eva Niamuzisilawati said that diabetes is not an infectious disease and can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle.
The risk of developing diabetes can be reduced by maintaining an ideal body weight, adopting a healthy diet, maintaining food portions, exercising regularly, stopping smoking, drinking lots of water, managing stress, and undergoing regular blood sugar checks.
Eva said that Persadia took advantage of the commemoration of World Diabetes Day to provide education to the public regarding efforts to prevent and treat diabetes and promote diabetes exercise.
“Because many people think that diabetes means their quality of life must be poor and they cannot be productive. We have many patients at Persadia who can still work productively according to their job. Even if they are elderly they are still in good health, that’s the point,” he said .
