“Perpetrator of Viral Mugging in Depok Arrested by Police”

Action mugging that makes mothers collapsed on the asphalt in Kukusan, Beji, Depok, finally revealed. The perpetrator has now been arrested by the police.

The robbery was caught on CCTV and went viral on social media. From the video circulating, the perpetrator was riding a motorcycle and wearing an online motorcycle taxi jacket approaching the victim.

From behind, the perpetrator approached the victim and trying to snatch the bag. However, the perpetrator failed to take the bag, causing the victim to fall.

This mugging occurred on Sunday (28/5/2023), at 14.35 WIB. At that time, the victim’s mother, S (35), was chatting with her friend on Jalan Ahmad Dahlan Gang Sailun RT 6 RW 5, Kukusan Village, Beji District, Depok City.

The victim kept his bag up fell to the asphalt. As a result of the incident, the victim suffered bruises on his left eye and bruises on his right and left hands.

Perpetrator Arrested in Kelapa Dua

The Beji Police, assisted by the Depok Metro Police, then conducted an investigation. The perpetrator named Gusti Fadillah Azhari or GFA (32) was finally arrested in Kelapa Dua, Depok, on Monday (29/5).

“Arrested in the Kelapa Dua area. Initials GFA (23),” said Beji Police Chief Kompol Sutirto to reporters, at Beji Police, Depok, Wednesday (31/5/2023).

Sutirto said the perpetrator was arrested at his home. He was arrested after his house was ‘waited’ by the police.

“Yesterday he left the house, but after he came home we waited with the members. So after that we caught him,” he said.

The act of mugging is not just once

The police revealed that Gusti had not only committed mugging once. Previously, Gusti had snatched a cellphone but the victim did not report it to the police.

“The suspect (GFA) had committed a crime before. Theft of a cellphone (HP), but the victim did not report it,” said Sutirto.

The police suspect that Gusti made the mugging as his job. The reason is, he did not just snatch this once.

“His motive if he has done something like that means it leads to work and the economy. Because if he is a new suspect then maybe it’s just an experiment,” he said.
