On Monday evening, October 7th, a Netto supermarket on Taubenstrasse in Scholven was the scene of an armed robbery.
The responsible Gelsenkirchen police reported on the events of that evening in the north of Gelsenkirchen, which brought back bad memories of the armed attacks on a gas station in Herten-Westerholt a year earlier.
According to the police report, a masked and armed man entered the store at 8:08 p.m. What happened next must have come as a shock to the employees.
The still unknown man pointed a pistol at the cashiers in the supermarket and demanded that they hand him the cash from the cash register.
There is talk of two cashiers who followed the aggressive perpetrator’s threats. Overall, they handed over money in the high three-digit range. The perpetrator then left the supermarket with the stolen sum and fled in an unknown direction.
The report goes on to say that there were several witnesses in the branch during the attack, who later informed the arriving police officers about what had happened.
The Gelsenkirchen police have initiated an investigation into aggravated robbery and are following all tips received to clear up the incident.
