Pernod Ricard, the world’s second-largest producer of wines and spirits, has faced protests in London and Dublin after resuming exports of its brands, such as Jameson whiskey and Beefeater gin, to Russia. The backlash in several European countries led the company to issue a statement on its website, acknowledging the complexity and challenges of exiting Russia. Pernod Ricard said it is working hard to navigate the situation, including stopping the export of its international brands, while ensuring the welfare and safety of its team and considering local legal constraints. The company added that it is committed to protecting its colleagues in the region and will provide updates as appropriate. The Sunday Independent has reported that Pernod Ricard is about to stop the export of its international brands to Russia. The company had previously suspended exports in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last year but later resumed sales. In the statement, Pernod Ricard said it “utterly condemned” the invasion of Ukraine by Russia from the very beginning and had “significantly reduced” the number and quantity of imported brands to protect its local teams and the welfare of their families.
