PARIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Regulatory News:
Press release – Paris, August 30, 2023
Pernod Ricard (Paris:RI) announces several structural changes intended to strengthen its consumer-centric strategy, support its new phase of growth and thus continue its transformation initiated in 2015. Thanks to its unique portfolio combining premium and prestige brands, its network distribution and its engaging corporate culture, Pernod Ricard is ideally positioned to seize all opportunities for future growth.
Reinforced governance combined with a new organization will allow greater efficiency at all levels of the company, at the same time as greater responsiveness and proximity to constantly changing markets.
The main changes announced are as follows:
1/ Strengthened corporate governance, enabling more effective engagement and faster decision-making
An Executive Committee replaces the current Executive Bureau. Composed of 9 members, it now includes the new Executive Vice-Presidents in charge of Brands and Markets, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pernod Ricard North America as well as the Director of Operations. The Executive Committee is the permanent management body of the Group, in consultation with the Chairman and CEO, whom it assists in his missions. In this context, Philippe Guettat, currently Chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard Asia, has been appointed Executive Vice-President in charge of Brands. Gilles Bogaert, currently Chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard EMEA/LATAM, has been appointed Executive Vice-President in charge of Markets. These appointments come after Christian Porta, Deputy Managing Director Global Business Development, exercised his retirement rights after a long and successful career with Pernod Ricard. A new body, called “Executive Leadership Team” and composed of 30 members, is created. It brings together the managers of the company’s key functions, as well as the members of the Executive Committee. The ELT ensures the consistency and deployment of the Group’s growth strategy and the resources associated with it.
2/ A simplified organization to align structures and responsibilities across all functions
Regional entities covering both EMEA/LATAM and Asia are removed to ensure rapid decision-making and execution, at all levels of the organization. All the markets are now grouped together within 10 “management entities”, thus promoting critical size and pooling.
Alexandre Ricard, Chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard, says:
“Within Pernod Ricard, we have brought together and grown some of the most iconic wine and spirits brands in the world, while remaining true to our entrepreneurial spirit. In an increasingly complex and changing world, I am certain that our new organization will enable us to take a new step in growth that is sustainable, sustained and profitable, for the benefit of all our stakeholders. While welcoming Ann, Gilles, Philippe and Maria-Pia, I would like to express my most sincere gratitude to Christian Porta for his contribution to the Group, after 35 years of unfailing commitment.”
