The Crowd Classic played at Arena Pernambuco, in the 2024 State semi-final, broke the Arena Pernambuco attendance record, with 45,492 fans, and also established the highest football audience in the state this season. In fact, it was one of the largest audiences in Greater Recife considering any television program other than football. The 0-0 draw followed by Sport’s victory over Santa Cruz on penalties occupied Rede Globo’s schedule from 4:30 pm until 7:00 pm.
And the peak in audience was precisely in the penalties, reaching 50 points, according to data collected by the blog. This means there were 1,684,100 viewers at that time. According to Kantar Ibope Media, each point corresponds to 1% of potential viewers in the region surveyed. In the capital of Pernambuco, then, 1 point is worth 33,682 people. Well, half of Greater Recife tuned in to channel 13.1 to see the ten decisive kicks. On the network, no successful prime time soap opera currently reaches this point.
Throughout the match, the audience remained high, covering almost all the devices connected on Saturday afternoon. The average was 41 points, or 1,380,962 viewers. In the blog’s survey, this was only the 15th game involving teams from Pernambuco on a TV broadcast to exceed 40 points in the RMR. In this edition of the Pernambucano Championship, this was the 5th classic held, comfortably occupying the lead on TV. 2nd place was the same classic in the first phase, with almost 9 points less.
