In the first half of this year in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italian post it has hired 102 workers with permanent contracts divided between the delivery sector, in which it has stabilized 72 of those in service with fixed-term contracts, and 30 in the context of post offices.
New entrants are broken down by province as follows: Udine 43 (29 postmen, 12 branch operators, 2 financial consultants), Pordenone 39 (31 postmen, 8 branch operators), Gorizia 15 (10 postmen, 3 counter agents and 2 financial advisors), Trieste 5 (2 postmen, one counter, 2 financial advisors). The new hires strengthen the work teams of the 16 distribution centers and the network of 331 post offices in the region.
The Active Policies program, which concerns about 2,000 hired throughout Italyit is agreed with the trade unions and contributes to the effective implementation of the strategies outlined in the “2024 Sustain & Innovate” business plan, in particular as regards the new organization of delivery. The goal is to transform the postman from an operator focused on traditional correspondence to a primary player in the growing parcel market and leader in the B2C segment.
Among other active employment policies, Poste Italiane is also involved in the transformation of contracts from part-time to full-time, hiring from the external market and the activation of internal branch services.
The average age of the group’s employees fell from 49.7 years in 2017 to 49.2 years in 2020 and thanks to these integration interventions it will remain stable until 2024. A central role will be played by the reshaping of the skills of the employees who will be trained in the new professional skills and retrained internally to ensure the competitiveness required by the market, with the aim of favoring over time a culture oriented to change.
The percentage of women is also growing: from 54% in 2017 to 55% in 2020 at 56% expected in 2024. In the delivery sector, the transition to a more stable working situation usually takes place at the end of a work experience with a fixed-term employment contract.
