Given the recent clashes in different parts of the country in which members of organized crime apparently participated, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo commented that her government maintains communication with state administrations to address these acts of violence.
When asked about the issue in the morning at the National Palace, the president stated that the head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, has contact with his counterparts from the states.
“Important work is being done,” responded the head of the Executive.
He stated that his government’s strategy is to cover several areas of security, particularly in intelligence and investigation in order to create good investigation files and thus lead to arrests of criminals.
Regarding cases of possible corruption in customs, he added that with former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador “a lot of progress was made with customs and ports, and we continue to work together.”
He indicated that it can be shown that corruption decreased in the operation of these spaces because tax revenues increased,
With President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, he said, 250 billion pesos were collected from the fight against corruption in customs.
“Now we have a strategy to keep them increasing; if corruption decreases, that resource goes where it has to be paid, which is the public treasury.”
