‘Available space’ stars Celia Nadal and Javier Manzaneda, who play Palmira and Jenaro, a retired couple, who are waiting for their son to visit during a memorable sleepless night. The son, an expatriate aid worker, comes with the intention of taking them to live with him and thus be able to serve them as they deserve. This visit will unleash a conflict in the couple around the defense of their own space, and their feeling of uselessness in this society of profit.
This show won the audience award for Best Hall Show at the Castilla y León Theater Fair in 2017 and is recommended by the National Network of Theaters.
Iker Piris concert
‘Available space’ is part of the 2021 billboard jointly organized by the City Councils of Zumarraga and Urretxu. Within this same program is the Iker Piris & His Dual Electras concert that can be enjoyed on June 25, also at the Zelai Arizti aretoa. Ticket prices will be the same as for the theater.
Iker Piris (Tolosa, 1979) began with the guitar in a self-taught way. At fourteen he came into contact with the blues through a friend who showed him the first riffs and three albums of the genre: ‘Witchcraft,’ by Guitar Watson; ‘Live at the Regal’, by BB King and ‘False accusation’, by Robert Cray. Since then he has remained attached to the guitar and since 1997, on stage. In June 2009 he finished his studies at the Superior Conservatory of Music of the Basque Country, Musikene.
From 2009 to 2018, he led the group The Romanticos, with whom he released three albums under the Gaztelupeko Hotsak label, ‘My time’, in 2012; ‘Do it yourself’, recorded live in the studio in 2014, and ‘Good Vibrations’, composed entirely of original songs, in 2017.
Currently he combines “strength and talent” with the French rhythm section that he forms together with double bass player Abdell B. Bop and drummer Andy Martin, in the project: Iker Piris & his Dual Electras. His first album recorded at the end of 2019 under the title ‘Electra’, has the collaboration of the harmonica players Nico Wayne Toussaint and Greg Izor, as well as Víctor Puertas at the piano. The album mixed by Mike Mariconda, has been released by the El Toro Records label. Passionate about primitive acoustic blues, in 2019 he released his solo album ‘Solo’.
Iker Piris has shared the stage with artists such as Chris Ruest, Greg Izor, Paul Orta, Nico Wayne Toussaint, Mingo Balaguer, Víctor Puertas, Melvin Davis, Blas Picón (with whom he edited the acoustic blues album ‘Heartbreackin men’ in 2015), the Soul singer from Boston Jesse Dee, The Velvelettes, Kim Weston from the Motown label, José Ramírez from Costa Rica and Sheilah Cuffy, among others. In addition, it has participated in a good number of festivals.
