Thanks to the advancement of science, it was possible to practice a Cardiac surgery on a 32-week-gestation fetus for critical aortic stenosis.
The procedure was a joint effort between Hospital Foundation and the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires. Surgery was performed successfully in the past Dec. 18 in which More than 15 professionals participated, under the coordination of Dr. Pablo Marantz, Medical Director of Fundación Hospitalaria; and the participation of Dr. Lucas Otaño, Director of the Fetal Medicine Unit of the Italian Hospital.

The procedure was performed in a uninsured patient from a public hospital, which has been referred to the Hospital Foundation to carry out this type of highly complex and difficult-to-resolve surgical practice in a public entity.
What did the surgery consist of
It was a A rare surgical procedure performed in 15 centers around the world. Around 500 have been carried out, of which the Fetal Medicine team has carried out 70.
