Celebrating the 35th anniversary of this work and the 135th anniversary of Andrej Pumpura’s epic “Lāčplēsis”, the rock opera was performed for the first time in Pumpura’s hometown, Lielvārde.
The stage scenography depicted the underwater world, 11 LED screens were used, on which the video artist Artis Dzērve will revive the paintings of the painter Kristīne Kutepova, while the metal artist Normunds Bērziņš created a light and flowing central structure of the stage, which symbolizes the course of the Daugava stream – as a bridge connecting the past with the present. who stands between good and evil, who divides and reunites a nation.
In the renewed production of the rock opera, the role of Lāčpleš was entrusted to the singer Atis Zviedri, Laimdot was played by the vocalist Beāte Zviedre. Kangar was the singer Marts Kristians Kalniņš and, according to the director Rēzija Kalniņa, it was the relationship between this trio that was at the center of the new rock opera performance.

The opera soloist, tenor Raimonds Bramanis, played the role of the big man, Dieterich was played by Atis Ieviņš, actor Gundars Grasbergs played the role of Hatter, Jānis Buķelis sang Koknesi, singer Alice Kante played the role of Northern Daughter, singer Anmary played the role of Staburadze, while actress Zane Jančevska played the role of the Narrator.
The “a capella” group “Latvian Voices” played important roles in the show, while Sarma Liedi, Austra Kozuliņa, Sanita Rozi, Edvardas Griezi, Tomas Kalderauskis, Tomas Kursītis and Artūras Biķernieks were seen in the roles of witches, wells, yodas and informers.
Music author Zigmars Liepiņš was on keyboards, Uldis Marhilevičs was next to him. Mārcis Auziņš played the guitar, Valters Spružs played the bass guitar, while Gundars Lintiņš played the percussion instruments.
The line-up of musicians and actors was made up of the Lielvārde mixed choir “Lāčplēsis”, the youth dance group “Pūpolītis” and the folklore group “Josta”, the Ķegum mixed choir “Lins” and the Tomes folklore group “Graudi”.
The creative team of the show, led by director Kalniņa, also included assistant director Dace Micāne-Zālīte, choreographer Inga Raudinga, scenographer Kristīne Kutepova, costume designer Dana Dombrovska, metal artist Bērziņš, video artist Dzērve and lighting artist Oskars Pauliņš.
