JAPANESE RICE or GOHAN! You asked me a LOT, so here are some tips. 1) Wash the rice until the water is almost clear. I always wash 5-7 times. 2) Leave the grain to soak after washing! This step is important as it hydrates the grain and makes it cook faster. I leave it for 20 minutes or until all the grains are VERY white like in the video. 3) Quantity of water for cooking. I use a 1:1 ratio. It’s always worked for me, it’s not what it says on the rice packaging but I prefer it that way! ๐ 4) The cooking time is different for the quantities of rice you are going to make. 2 cups of rice, for me, lasts 10 minutes! Now, if you are going to make 4,5,8 cups of rice, the time can vary up to 20 minutes. 5) Pay attention to the sound! The cooking noise always has to be a light bubbling sound, but NEVER the sound of frying or a dry pan. 6) It is better to err on the side of less time than more fire time. As the rice will still rest for a while, if you think the water has almost dried, you can turn off the heat. The resting time will make the rice absorb this remaining water. 7) Let the rice rest to finish cooking! If you find everything too complicated, buy an electric rice cooker because you just throw the washed rice in the pan and forget about it! ๐ Oh, one thing. This rice is different from sushi rice, you know? The sushi one, after cooking, is seasoned with sugar and rice vinegar that brings that wonderful flavor! #japanesefood #rice #recipe #gastronomy
