Perez realistic about his F1 career: “The future is no longer in my hands”

About the future of Sergio Perez still not much is known. The Mexican was dismissed by Racing Point and has hinted that he is interested in a seat at Red Bull, but he says his future is no longer in his own hands.

Perez proved once again that he is a good driver in Turkey. On Saturday he already did well in qualifying, but the Racing Point driver also performed well enough during the race for a second place. He made no mistakes and managed to keep his car neatly on the asphalt. The rest of the season, however, the driver did not have such a good and easy time. At the start of the season, his team was under heavy fire and in the summer, the Mexican became infected with the corona virus. He had to miss two Grands Prix because of this and to top it all off, Perez was told that he will not be driving for the future Aston Martin F1 Team in 2021. The 30-year-old had to quickly look for a plan B, but that has not turned out to be so easy. At the moment it seems Red Bull Racing to be the only possibility for him, but he can count on competition from that too Nico Hulkenberg.

“I didn’t have a problem-free season because a lot of things happened. We had a good car at the start of the season, but because of COVID I missed two races and then I also lost my spot for 2021,” so told the driver against Sky. With the necessary criticism Alexander Albon Red Bull seems to be looking for a replacement, who may have been found in Perez. The interest from both parties is clear, but of course it has not only to do with being able to drive fast. Perez realizes this all too well.

“In Formula 1 it’s not all about the speed of the driver, we have seen that with other drivers. There are many more things that play a role and therefore my future is not in my hands now,” said Perez.
