Their duel in the fall ended very controversially. Alex Pereira defeated the Moravian samurai in Madison Square Garden, but Jiří Procházka later complained that referee Marc Goddard ended the duel prematurely.
The BJP sought retaliation, a quick one. In vain. The Brazilian didn’t care about her. He wanted a new challenge. It became Jamahal Hill at the UFC 300 gala. However, the former middleweight king and reigning light heavyweight champion uncompromisingly shut him down in the first round.
The former champion of Rizin and of the light heavyweight division of the UFC dealt with Aleksandar Rakic for a change, he ended up winning by a stoppage in the second round. Talk of retaliation immediately began. After all, the reason was also the fact that, according to Jiří Procházka, he was promised by the organization that if he won, his next match would be a title match.
However, it is not at all clear if that will happen. Even after the victory, Procházka talked about his title chance, saying that he would like to fight as soon as possible, but Pereira has a slightly different view on the matter.
Will we see a rematch of Pereira vs Procházka?
Jiří Procházka performed brilliantly. He even received a bonus for the performance of the evening in the amount of 300 thousand dollars compared to Alex Pereira. But he apparently did not make too much of an impression on the Brazilian. Or vice versa? This is just speculation.
Already press conference however, after the tournament, the champion was asked about a possible rematch with the Moravian samurai. Reaction? He doesn’t care, he prefers other opponents he hasn’t fought yet. For example, Magomed Ankalaeva.
But if the UFC is said to cost a lot for the match, then Procházka will see a rematch, as Pereira is willing to give her the nod. However, if everything was up to him, he would like to fight in his native Brazil in less than a month, preferably in the heavyweight division.
There was even speculation about a possible fight with interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall.
