Pereira Mayor’s Office Invites Public to Free Cine Forum Screening of Classic World Literature Films

This initiative is a space that many Pereira residents demanded, and whose objective is to hold a forum prior to the screening of the film, with the purpose of contextualizing the public about it; which, in general, is the adaptation of some work of world literature.

Regarding the film Anastasia, it refers to the life of Anna Anderson, who posed as the Grand Duchess Anastasia, daughter of Tsar Nicholas who was shot to death in the Bolshevik revolution. When the remains of Anastasia and her brother Alexei were not found, many women claimed to be the daughter of the Tsar, one being Anna Anderson, who for many years walked through European society, pretending to be the heir to the Russian throne. Ingrid Bergman and Yul Brayner play the main roles in this film that was very well received by the audience.

Other titles for nearby screenings are: The Sign of Zorro from 1940 and Nosferatu the Vampire from 1922. All films are in the public domain and before their screening, attendees receive the explanation and context of the film.

The mayor’s office of Pereira, through the Ministry of Culture, extends the invitation for the public to attend the Cine Forum and enjoy these classics of world cinema and literature every Thursday at 5:00 pm in the General Hall of the “Ramón Correa Mejía” Public Library. Entrance is free and open.
