The successful series of fantasy novels about the demigod Percy Jackson, who is hunted down by creepy monsters from Greek mythology, gets a series adaptation. Already in 2010 and 2013 there were two film adaptations with “Percy Jackson: Thieves in Olympus” and “Percy Jackson: The Vampire Slayer” with Logan Lerman as the protagonist. The new Disney Original should now stick more closely to book designs. There is no release until 2024, but a first teaser gives a first impression of the new series.

The novelist Rick Riodarn himself is writing the scripts, with Jon Steinberg (“Black Sails”) acting as showrunner. So fans can hope for a faithful adaptation to the original. The 12-year-old main character was chosen by Walker Scobell, who was seen alongside Ryan Reynolds in the Netflix movie The Adam Project. Also in the cast are Aryan Simhadri and Leah Sava Jeffries as Percy’s friends Grover and Annabeth.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is expected to launch on Disney + in 2024.
