Per-Mathias Högmo leaves BK Häcken.

According to Sportbladet’s information, he informed the squad this morning that he is leaving the club.

The Norwegian is close to taking over Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan.

It was barely two weeks ago that Sportbladet was able to reveal that Per-Mathias Högmo had offers from foreign clubs, including one from Japan. In addition, he had been to an interview with the Swedish Football Association regarding the job of association captain and was a top candidate at SvFF.

After that, Expressen wrote that the club that wanted Högmo was Urawa Red Diamonds. According to Sportbladet’s information, Högmo has now announced that he is leaving BK Häcken. He informed the squad during the morning and is thus expected to take over Urawa Red Diamonds if nothing unforeseen happens. The club is the reigning AFC Champions League champion and will play in the Club World Cup in December.

Took SM gold

Per-Mathias Högmo came to Häcken in 2021 and led the club to SM gold in 2022. He has previously coached the Norwegian men’s national team and has also coached Djurgården in the Allsvenskan.

Häcken’s assistant coach Martin Foyston opened up in an interview with Sportbladet last week to take over as the new head coach and has a top candidate for the job.

The fact that Högmo is leaving is expected to become official this week, probably as early as tomorrow.
