The goalkeeper and footballerPepe Reina has exploded this Friday after watching a video of chain Cuatro in which two Mossos d’Esquadra they end up protecting a squatter family in Catalonia. The fragment has gone viral this week, although it belongs to a special program of the research space ‘In the spotlight‘, issued last September and in which the situation of squatting in Spain was related, especially in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
A situation that is seen more and more frequently on television in our country, even more so in the months after the summer, just after the report was recorded. Families go on vacation to second homes, as we have been able to do in our country despite the restrictions due to Covid, and squatters take the opportunity to take over the house, changing the locks and closing tight.

The video in which two mossos intercede for a squatter
In the video, which has gone viral on social networks, you can see both the reporter of the program ‘In the spotlight‘as the owner of a small house in urban area, whose house has been squatted. They both try to talk to whoever has sneaked inside, who has both the door closed and the people thrown out and refuses even to talk or defend themselves. At one point in the report, a couple of Mossos d’Esquadra appear, who can do nothing but explain to the owner that they cannot do anything because it is “a judicialized case”.
Both Cuatro’s reporter and the owner of the house insist until a second pair of police officers arrives. After trying to talk to the squatter, who falsely accuses both of hitting the windows, the reporter explains: “You are threatening to report us for harassment”. “You understand that the legislation is what it is, and if they are in here and live here, and they continue to come here, we will have to open proceedings for this reason,” explains the mosso to the owner who, far from giving up, warns:
