Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola refused to talk about “tactics” during the halftime match against Sheffield United (2-0) today, Saturday, in the English Premier League.
Guardiola said, in the press conference after the match: “We were in a state of discomfort the last three times we were here (3 draws at Etihad Stadium). The first half was silent. The body language of the players did not communicate, did not speak, did not laugh, or shouted.”
He added: “In football, there must be something internally. At halftime, for the first time, I did not speak a single word about tactics. I took a chair and said, ‘When you go out with a smile on your faces and have fun, we will win,’ and indeed we played the best minutes in the second half, and this helped us.”

When asked whether a long winning streak should be expected after two consecutive wins in the English Premier League, the coach added: “In the past we created a lot of winning streaks, but we never thought about that in that period.”
Pep concluded: “I had a feeling that we could have more points given the way we played. We performed really well against Liverpool and Crystal Palace… The situation we are in is more than good. We will lose matches, and they will lose matches.”
