The mother of Josep Guardiola, Dolors Sala, died this Monday victim of COVID-19, as reported by Manchester City on their social networks.
“The family of Manchester City is devastated to report the death of the mother of Pep, Dolors Sala Carrió, in Manresa, Barcelona, after contracting Coronavirus at the age of 82, ”the statement said.
“All of us who belong to the club send our sincere love at this very distressing moment to Pep, his family and all his friends,” added the document.
Spain has been severely affected by the pandemic with more than 13,000 deaths reported. They have more than 135,000 confirmed cases, more than any other country in Europe, although the rate of new infections has started to decline.
The City coach has been in Barcelona for a few days.
