After going through a tough negotiation process, Gvardiol was finally released by Leipzig to City with a tag of 90 million euros which made him the world’s most expensive defender.
Gvardiol has flown to Manchester to undergo a medical before completing his move. The presence of Gvardiol certainly makes City’s back line even tougher.
Because City previously had five quality centre-backs and made it easy for Guardiola to rotate them. Gvardiol, who is left-handed, is needed by Guardiola for his playing scheme in the 2023/2024 season.
Regarding the Gvardiol transfer process, Guardiola said that it would be completed in the near future, this weekend at the earliest. Gvardiol is projected to make his debut against Arsenal in the Community Shield party, Sunday (6/8/2023).
