Energy prices are still rising. The situation in the Czech Republic is also exacerbated by the fact that many suppliers go bankrupt, and clients subsequently find themselves in the supplier of last resort (DPI) mode. The expert advised what people should watch out for.
We pay more and more for energy. The reason is mainly high prices on stock exchanges. “The supplier can increase the price without asking the customer. However, he must let him know in advance, at least 30 days before the price increase. In addition, he must inform him in writing to his address, SMS or e-mail. “explained the legal expert of the dTest counseling center Jiří Zelenka on Tuesday breakfast with Nova.
However, the customer will not do anything about the increase. “You have the opportunity to accept it or leave. However, you cannot stay with the company under your current conditions,” Zelenka explained.
Last Instance Vendor Mode (DPI)
Due to the closure of energy suppliers, many customers have recently found themselves in the supplier of last resort (DPI) mode. People can stay in this mode for up to half a year. However, it is more advantageous for them if they find another company that will supply them with energy as soon as possible.
“It is important to get out of this regime as soon as possible. In this case, prices are much higher than for normal suppliers,” Zelenka revealed.
Fixation
Experts often advise people to fix energy prices. The fixation guarantees them the same prices for a certain period of time. “The best fixation is currently the year. Most people agree on that now,” Zelenka said.
However, it is important to note that the price may increase even in the case of fixation if a third party, such as the state, enters into the contract. This could be caused, for example, by a change in VAT.
What to watch out for
However, people should be wary of various unfair practices by suppliers. “Don’t sign anything between the doors,” Zelenka emphasized.
It is important to focus on price lists as well. The amounts are often stated there without VAT. However, consumers are not interested in them. The price with VAT is important, but it is often written in a much smaller font.
In addition, Zelenka points out that it is essential to have a set start of energy supply when signing the contract. “The customer is in DPI mode and signs the contract as a normal customer, but without information when the deliveries begin. The company can still keep it in DPI mode and it only depends on it when it enters the contract mode. The contract takes effect on the day of delivery “Zelenka concluded.”
