People who already hate electric Dacia, although the car only reaches customers in the fall

Dacia Spring entered pre-order on March 20 and is already recording impressive figures. But not everyone is waiting for the car with open arms.

On March 20, Dacia Spring has entered pre-order. In the first two days, orders reached a level similar to sales of electric cars in both 2019 and 2020. If in the first four hours after opening orders 1,500 electric cars were ordered, in total over the weekend were recorded 4,000 orders. In 2019 and 2020, about 4,300 electric cars were sold.

The car will be delivered in autumn and, for now, the price is 18,100 euros for the Comfort Plus version.

If you pay a few hundred euros, you get a few extra things. For 300 euros you buy a 30 kW DC charger (80% in 51 minutes) and you can add a 6.5 meter charging cable. In the end you get a price of 18,550 euros, which keeps it in the top anyway as the cheapest new electric car.

Who is upset with Dacia Spring?

What Dacia Spring is doing is drastically reducing the price of electric cars. This means greater adoption of these cars to the detriment of those with heat engines. And against the background of this change, car services are looking to the future with concern.

Electric cars require much less intervention from mechanics. By default, the need for services will decrease in the next 10 years.

“The volume of interventions on electric cars is half less than on gasoline cars. In terms of parts, the same result. ”
Jocelyn Gombault, proiect the Observatory of Trades in Automotive Services

Le Figaro analyzes this scenario among those in France. The publication quotes Julien Gouraud, network director at Midas, who claims that the franchise is now trying to specialize in the maintenance of electric car fleets. Currently, 800 Smart cars from the ShareNow network are maintained by Midas.

In this context, Dacia Spring ensures access to the electricity market by customers who would not have afforded electric cars until now. And in Romania, at least, and in other countries, even Germany, the state offers eco-vouchers for purchase, which further reduces the price.

The fear of those who have services is that the demand for such services will collapse. At the same time, it would affect the entire car-dependent chain, such as parts suppliers. It will probably take a few more years for this dramatic scenario, but it is clear that the car industry is facing a radical transformation.
