People still adhere to health protocols despite vaccines

KOMPAS.com – The plan, the Covid-19 vaccine will arrive in Indonesia in November 2020. The vaccine will then be injected in December 2020.

Of course this vaccine is to protect the public from infection with the SARS-Cov-2 virus or the new type of corona virus.

Headmaster Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FKKMK) Gadjah Mada University ( UGM), Prof. dr. Tri Wibawa, Ph.D, Sp.MK., still asked the community to obey health protocol despite receiving the Covid-19 vaccine.

“Currently, we are still waiting for the results of research on the number of vaccine protection against the new corona virus,” he said as quoted from the UGM website, Monday (19/10/2020).

“Even though they have been vaccinated, people must still protect themselves by behaving in accordance with health protocols,” he added.

So, vaccination is not a way out of the Covid-19 pandemic. Rather, sticking to health protocols is the best effort to prevent transmission.

If society is not disciplined on health protocols it can prolong the pandemic.

Therefore, the vaccination program needs to be accompanied by community discipline in undergoing health protocols.

Applied if it meets the requirements

According to Prof. Tri Wibawa, who is also an expert in microbiology, said that a vaccine can be given or applied to the public if the entire clinical trial process has been carried out.

Or you can say a vaccine can be used, including to tackle Covid-19 if it meets a number of requirements.

One of them has been tested for safety and does not cause significant side effects. So, the vaccine is ready to be given to the community.

“So, it must be effective in providing protection against targeted diseases and its quality is maintained in the production line,” he explained.

For the Covid-19 vaccine, according to him, it is prioritized or given to the groups most vulnerable to infection.
