The Women and Family Commission approved the Opinion of Bills 3180/2022-CR, 3530/2022-CR, 3547/2022-CR, 3920/2022-CR, 5128/2022-CR and 7281/2023-CR, which aims to modify Law 30490, known as the Law of the Elderly, in order to integrate benefits that strengthen their rights and improve their quality of life.
One of the most notable aspects of this decision is that the price of the ticket for the elderly, both in urban and interurban environments, may not exceed 50% of the price of the adult ticket. This represents a significant advance to guarantee their mobility and access to various services.
In addition, important improvements are established in public health care services for older adults. Both the Ministry of Health and Essalud must promote differentiated services for this population, including mobile care throughout the national territory. This measure seeks to provide more adequate and accessible care to older adults who suffer from diseases that affect their health.
These changes, framed in an ethical and legal context, have the fundamental objective of guaranteeing that our older adults live with dignity, respect and plenitude. They contribute significantly to the development and well-being of our society, recognizing the invaluable contribution and experience of those who have dedicated a life to serving their families and communities.
