The Vaccine Research Center (Cevaxin) needs volunteers over the age of 61 to continue with the experimental study of the vaccine against covid-19 in our country.

The phase 2 study of the experimental vaccine against covid-19 began in Panama in October and has already concluded with the tests in the age group of 18 to 60 years. But now volunteers are needed to test the vaccine in people over the age of 61.

Dr. Xavier Sáez Llorens explained that more than 50 people are being needed to participate in the experimental project for this vaccine.

Those who participate in the study, first undergo a medical history, several physical exams, tests to verify their kidney and liver functions and those over 60 an electrocardiogram, as well as a swab to verify that they do not have covid-19. After applying the experimental vaccine they are followed up.

Dr. Llorens indicated that the reactions that have occurred in the volunteers are as expected. Among them he mentioned fever, chills, headache, muscle pain, fatigue, but that these symptoms are transitory and do not last beyond 24 to 48 hours.

The Governor of Panama, Judy Meana, she was one of the first to get this vaccine and says she has had no reactions to date.
