The Ministry of Health (Minsa) was again short of first doses to apply the anticovid vaccine, this time, to a large group of Nicaraguans over 45 years of age. This Monday the new vaccination day for this segment of people began at the German Nicaraguan hospital in Managua, but before 9:30 in the morning the gates of said health unit were closed due to lack of first doses, LA PRENSA found .
In a visit that this newspaper made to the hospital, he confirmed the overflow of people who wanted to access the Russian drug Sputnik V: groups of people outside the hospital, citizens coming to ask about the vaccine and a traffic jam.
At approximately 9:30 in the morning, the time that a team from this newspaper came to the scene, the gates were already closed and they would not let citizens pass if they did not certify that they were going to a medical appointment. The security guard was in charge of informing the people who arrived for the vaccine that there were no longer doses and that the day would continue until this Tuesday.
According to the hospital worker, many people arrived at 2:00 in the morning to ensure their place in the vaccination, but in the morning they ordered him to close the gate due to the long line that was already inside the health unit and because people kept coming to the place. Similarly, citizens who were inside the hospital ran the risk of being informed that the doses were out.
Forced to get up early
The five vaccinated people who were asked about the process indicated that they got up early to be among the first. All were in the hospital from 5:00 in the morning but it was until 7:00 that the medical staff began to take vital signs and other checks and at 8:00 they were already applying the Russian biological. The process itself is fast, the citizens indicated, how late is the wait to be the first and guarantee their dose.
“We came at that time mostly to find a place because it gets crowded, there was a long queue,” said one of the beneficiaries.
Any person over 45 years of age, whether or not they suffer from chronic diseases, can report to the authorized vaccination post. You only have to present your card, if it is a chronic case, you must also carry the epicrisis and it will be located according to your group of disease so that the nurses attend you and verify that you have taken your medicines and are in optical condition to receive the vaccine.
Dr. María Eugenia Guerrero, from the German Nicaraguan hospital, told the official media El 19 Digital that the inoculation day will remain in that health unit until this Wednesday, August 4.
The official media reported that vaccination against Covid-19 is also maintained for people over 50 years of age, who are also coming in large numbers in search of their vaccine.
