“People look forward to Straburg and the region” – Offenburg

Straburger artist pubs or by bike to the Rhine – Kehl Tourist Information has developed a program together with the Kehl Guest Guide Association.

(BZ). A tour through the Kehler core city, through the neighboring Straburg or by bike through the Ortenau and Hanauerland – in the course of the current infection situation and the resulting relaxation, this will be possible again for Ortenauers and tourists. Together with the Kehl Guest Guide Association, Kehl Tourist Information has developed a guided tour program for the second half of 2021. It starts with a walk through Straburg, past literary cafs and artist pubs on Thursday, July 1st.

Kehl Marketing and the Kehler Guest Guide Association are a well-coordinated team and have jointly planned and organized programs every year. “A fruitful and successful collaboration,” emphasize both sides. Then came the corona pandemic last year. “Our professional life broke down overnight”, reports Stefan Woltersdorff, chairman of the Kehler guest guides. Nevertheless, he is looking ahead, towards the new beginning on a small scale, towards the beginning of the public guided tours on July 1st. Because it is a tour from his repertoire. It starts with the neighboring Straburg. “In the footsteps of poets and thinkers, you go on a culinary-literary foray through wine cellars, hidden corner bars and cozy brasseries,” announced the literary scholar. Start is at 6 p.m. at the Kehler Tourist Information on Rheinstrae. From there you can take the tram across the Rhine and then walk to literary cafes and artist bars. “This year we have a lot of classics in our program,” says Stefan Woltersdorff.

In addition to its opening tour, which will be repeated on October 14th, participants can discover the Straburg World Heritage Site, the La Neustadt district, or enjoy the romantic side of the French metropolis on the Rhine on another tour. At the same time, the guest tour program also comes up with a number of new features.

So on July 27th, you will cycle through the Kehler cultural and natural landscape. “The tourist information suggested this bike excursion,” reports Stefan Woltersdorff. The program point arose when it was not foreseeable whether the Corona rules on both sides of the Rhine would allow guest tours through the core city or Straburg. Another novelty: the guided tour to the European cathedral buildings was actually planned for 2020, but the pandemic had thwarted the plan, so that the tour made it into the program instead, a year later.

“We notice that people are looking forward to exploring the region and coming back to Straburg,” reports Antje Lenz, Head of Tourism at Kehl Marketing. Up to 20 participants are allowed per tour. If the tours lead to France, a daily negative test, a vaccination or recovery certificate is mandatory for all those who live more than 30 kilometers away from Straburg. The guest guides are linguistically diverse. About half of them also speak French or English, so that tours are also of interest to international groups.
