Dan Renville never thought he would be “the treasurer” of TikTok memories. Through her account ‘lizzie mcwhore’, who has accumulated more than 1 million followers, the content creator has brought idols back to life ‘teen’ of the nineties, teenage fashions and hairstyles and the best “salseos” that were forgotten over time by an entire millennial generation. “My name is a mix between Lizzie Mcguire and something more dirty and spicy,” he explains to Divinity.es with a mischievous smile.
She enters the set carrying a bag with the face of Edward Cullen (the vampire most loved by teenage girls, played by the unmistakable Robert Pattinson), to whom she gives a good luck kiss before turning on the lights and saying “action.” With an air of confidence, accompanied by his long nails and eclectic look, he displays his sympathy like a lifelong friend, when talking about his beginnings as a tiktoker, what he knows about the industry, about the famous, about ‘the gossip’, about how you think about the videos, about what works and what doesn’t in your account… the same one that has had an entire generation hooked on the mobile phone since the pandemic.
When he speaks, he mixes his Madrid accent with bites of phrases made in English, something he “has always done” since all his life he felt more connected to the stories and adolescent culture of the United States than to Spanish. Now everything makes sense.
His first steps to success in the digital world occurred in the pandemic. He started making videos about dancing, makeup, self-esteem and suddenly discovered that what people liked the most was what he did “for the love of art”: know stories about famous people from the past, or rather “pop culture” vintage”.
