“People left in a hurry, they took nothing with them”: the community of Dijon in Lebanon asks for help

The Lebanese Dijon Association is asking for donations to help victims of Israeli army bombings. The money raised should support charities present in Lebanon. Their needs for medicines and blankets have never been so great since the start of the war waged by the Jewish state against Hezbollah.

Medicines, beds, blankets… In Lebanon, the victims of Israeli bombings do not have everything. To help them, Dijon’s Lebanese community is on the move. At the beginning of October, it was launched an online prize pool on a crowdfunding platform. Objective: to finance the activities of the humanitarian associations present on the site by collecting nearly 20,000 euros.

The idea is to transfer money to them so they can buy beds and mattresses, hygiene products, medicines, towels and blankets.“, explains the president of the association.

Indeed, those displaced by war sometimes live in very precarious conditions. some taking shelter in schools, classrooms or gyms. In Lebanon, there are no canteens in schools, so these refugees don’t even have a way to cook on site.“, says Alberta Awa.

The association has been doing several activities for several weeks: fundraising through the sale of Lebanese pastries at a garage sale, sending medicines to the Lebanese embassy in Paris, transferring money from person to person.

His new campaign aims to address the suspension of Air France, Transavia and Lufthansa air connections to Beirut airport. “To transport blankets and bedding, ships and boats are needed and the procedure takes a lot of time“, pointing out the president of the Lebanese society.”With the online kit you can transfer money quickly through special sites.”

All donations are welcome, even the smallest.

If we manage to help ten associations by paying 2,000 euros each, that is already a lot.

The prize pool should remain online for two weeks. With 480 euros collected this Wednesday, it is still far from the goal of 20,000 euros that was initially set. The society will not lose hope of bringing the public into reality.
