With the number of new cases returning to four figures in Canada’s two most populous provinces, and many linked to the new variants of the UK and South Africa, the Canadian government decided to ban flights to sunny destinations until spring.

As the pandemic drags on and stay-at-home orders lengthen, many are feeling the fatigue associated with nearly a full year of restrictions and closures.

According to an Expedia study, 83% of Canadians said they value vacation time more than ever.

Additionally, 66% of those surveyed said that the pandemic had inspired them to create a wishlist; the longer the pandemic has dragged on, the more their lists have grown: 60% said they had kept adding to their list as weeks turned into months.

According to the results, 64% of those surveyed consider that vacation time is more valuable when they spend it with the family, while 54% said that using their vacation time to relax and unwind is what makes them the happiest; 37% said they had just spent their most recent vacation time at home.

In addition, the majority of those surveyed, 75%, affirm that the company they work for has supported them when they take vacations.
