Detectives are working to track down a man after the shooting on Park Lane at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, April 8.
Specialist firearms officers went to the scene but could find no trace of suspects or injured. A car was found abandoned.
CCTV captures the moment a car collides on the road and tries to reverse. A man approaches and appears to unload a pump-action shotgun into the car as the driver flees the scene. Pedestrians are seen lying on the ground and ducking behind cars for cover during the gunfight.
DI Gemma Alger said: “This terrifying incident unfolded on a residential street in broad daylight and it is incredibly fortunate that no one was seriously injured or worse.
“There were members of the public going about their business as usual when they were caught in the middle of a volley of gunfire and feared for their lives as they dove for cover.
“Police and communities must work together to stop violent criminals and this is a prime example of that.
“Any piece of information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, can be vital.”
DCS Caroline Haines, Enfield and Haringey Police Chief, said: “We are aware of the shocking images circulating on social media. I can assure local residents that we are doing everything we can to assist our colleagues at Specialized Crime as they work to establish the circumstances and identify everyone associated with this incident.
“While this incident will cause great concern, and rightfully so, fortunately firearm discharges are extremely rare. We’ve seen a 73 percent reduction over the past year in Northern Area districts, and addressing violence remains the Met’s top priority.
“You can expect to see additional patrols in the area in the coming days, and I encourage local people to reach out to the officers on patrol to discuss any information or concerns you have with them.”
Two men have been arrested and charged following the shooting. A third man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was later released on bail.
