Freiburg (dpa) – The newly elected German wine queen Sina Erdrich wants to visit the Ahr valley, which was badly hit by the July flood. “As soon as the schedule allows, I will definitely do that,” said the 24-year-old on Friday to the German press agency in Freiburg on the sidelines of an event organized by the Baden Winegrowing Association. The educational scientist comes from Durbach in Baden.
The consequences of the flood disaster are far from over, said Erdrich. “You will need help again next year in the summer,” she added, referring to the winegrowers in the Ahr growing region. She is friends with the wine princess Linda Trarbach, who comes from the Ahr, and has an emotional relationship with the subject.
Erdrich was elected German Wine Queen at the end of September. She is the spokesperson for the German winegrowers for a year and is committed to ensuring that they “are properly rewarded for their hard work”.
As the industry’s most important ambassador, the German Wine Queen attends numerous appointments abroad within a year. In this way, it has been promoting wine from Germany with its 13 growing regions since 1949.
