In an armed action, a man was arrested in the morning after behaving threateningly.

The police received reports of a man on an electric scooter just before 6.30.
– It was reported that he drove past Festplassen and threatened a bus driver and passengers by making hand movements as if he were going to shoot them. But no objects or anything like that were observed. He is also said to have been rude to passers-by, and showed this hand gesture to several people who drove by, says operations manager in the West police district Tom Johannessen to Bergens Tidende.
Johannessen also confirms to the newspaper that the police were armed in connection with the mission.
At 06.45, the man was arrested in Starvhusgaten, by the Gallery.
– As I understand it, it went completely undramatically and smoothly, says Johannessen.
34-year-old Øyvind Colliander witnessed the incident at Festplassen when he was on his way to work in the morning.
– I walked through the city park and saw a man in a suit on an electric scooter who gestured and pointed a finger while he swung around without a goal and meaning, he says.
Then came two heavily armed policemen and he put down his electric scooter and lay on the ground while they aimed at him with automatic weapons.
Colliander says that about ten people witnessed the incident.
– He was arrested without drama, but people around were a bit shocked and did not quite understand what was happening, he says.
He himself did not find the episode frightening, but mostly wondered what was going on.
– I thought it was a bit violent with that armament.
